An individual candidate’s performance on the CACO is provided in a Performance Report. The Report includes a scaled score for each of the Components, and a decision as to whether the candidate passed or failed each Component. The Report also contains an indication of the number of question items that were deleted from scoring in each component. A scaled score for a component consists of the total raw score scaled so that a score of "0" represents the lowest score possible, while "1.00" represents the minimum performance level. Candidates are also provided with an indication of their areas of weak or strong performance. This information is presented in bar chart format, where each bar represents the ratio of a sub-component score in relation to the sub-component minimum performance level. This information can be helpful in identifying areas that could benefit by further study, training, or experience. Candidates are cautioned not to misinterpret this information by either interpolating or extrapolating numerical scoring data from the graph. The criterion-referenced scoring method used by CEO produces numerical results that are different than the more familiar relative scoring methods (often represented as a percentage or grade-point average). Numerical scores do not represent a relative indicator of competence within the area. For example, a scaled score of .90 where the scaled minimum performance level is 1.00 does not indicate that a candidate is 90% competent. Numerical scores are used solely for the purpose of determining whether a candidate exceeded or fell short of the minimum performance level in the area assessed. Dates for reporting indicated here are provided to give applicants an estimate of the time required to produce Performance Reports. Two copies of the CACO Performance Report, each officiated with the CEO seal, are provided to the candidate; one copy is intended as a record and the other should be included with the candidate’s provincial license application. Licensing or registration decisions made by Regulators are made subsequent to receiving performance reports. To ensure the accuracy and confidentiality of all assessment performance results, CACO Performance Reports are sent to candidates by MAIL ONLY, at the address on file with CEO. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES ARE REPORTS AVAILABLE BY TELEPHONE, FAX OR E-MAIL. |
