Results from each Prior Learning Assessment administration are provided in a chart format Performance Report. The areas of practice are listed and each associated result is presented both numerically and in bar form alongside. A numerical result equal to or greater than 1.00 is considered adequate performance. Higher scores indicate better performance, while scores below 1.00 indicate areas of practice that should be improved. Along with an indication of performance, participants are also provided with an accompanying Assessment Detail Report explaining the content of each particular area of practice and a Projection to the CSAO based on the results of the PLA administration.
The Performance Report result for each area of practice consists of the total number of correctly answered questions scaled so that a score of "0" represents the lowest score possible, while "1.00" represents the minimum performance level. Each result on the Performance Report represents the ratio in relation to the minimum performance level for each particular area or topic according to the PLA Table of Specifications.
The criterion-referenced scoring method used by CEO produces numerical results that are different than the more familiar relative scoring methods (often represented as a percentage or grade-point average). Numerical scores do not represent a relative indicator of competence within the area. For example, a scaled score of 90 where the scaled minimum performance level is 1.00 does not indicate that a Participant is 90% competent. Numerical scores are used solely for the purpose of determining whether a Participant exceeded or fell short of the minimum performance level in the area assessed. An Example PLA Performance Report has been provided for your reference.
Dates for reporting are provided to give participants an estimate of the time required to produce reports subsequent to an administration. To ensure the accuracy and confidentiality of applicant’s results, reports are sent to Participants by MAIL ONLY, at the address on file with CEO. Where the participant has provided authorization, Performance Reports will also be provided to the UWIOBP.
