Assessment Structure
The ICLO is a written program designed to demonstrate an optometrist’s current clinical knowledge and judgement.
The ICLO consists of approximately 265 multiple-choice questions related to the scope of optometric practice in Canada.
While the format of the ICLO resembles an examination, results are not provided on a pass or fail basis. Instead,
participants are provided with a profile of their strengths and weaknesses across the scope of practice of the
profession, in such areas as:
