The Competence Committee is responsible for describing in writing the nature of optometric practice, competence, excellence, specialization, and quality. As well, other terminology may be specified from time to time by the Board of Directors for description by the Committee. This Committee regularly consults with the profession nationally and internationally to seek consensus in its descriptive terminology.
